How to Add a Credit, Debit, Payment Card Account


To add a Credit, Debit, Payment or other Bank Card account to WebAccount Password Manager all you need is an Account name. An account can be a Website account or something which you want to record securely, for example Credit or Debit card details or Passport and ID document information.
Whilst this example is about a Card account and seperately there are examples for Website and Document accounts, they can be merged. There are no "types" of account in WebAccount but to help understand how to use WebAccount we have created specific examples. If your Card account also has Website access then put all the relevant information into one account.
Cards are used online and usually when we need one we read the information from the card. This means you need it with you and also taking it out of your wallet or purse and then putting it back again. Instead, store the details in WebAccount. When you need it you can copy and paste as required.
You may also have additional security information which you use when communicating with your card issuer. For example a "Telephone PIN". If your card gives you access to ATMs then you will also have a PIN number to remember. You can add these to WebAccount as well.

Add a Credit, Debit, Payment Card account

1. Enter the name for the new account

The name of the account can be up to thirty characters in length and can use any character on your keyboard.
Accounts are selected by typing the first few letters, by mouse or by touch. So you may find it useful to abbreviate account names.
  • BANK OF AMERICA becomes BOA
  • CITIBANK becomes CITI
After entering the account name press the Tab key, touch or click into the Account number field.

2. Enter the Card number.

Once the Card Number is entered, click, touch or use the Tab key to move to the "Prompt" fields area.
The Prompt "dropdowns" can be uniquely set for every account in WebAccount. Each account can use up to and including nine different Prompts with respective Values.
The Prompts identify what the value is for example:
  • Card name
  • Card type
  • Expiry period
  • CVV
  • Pin
Prompts are shared. So if "Card name" is used for one account then it can also be used for other accounts. The value saved becomes the default value if it is used on another account. You can override the value on every account that uses it. Our online security section has more information about protecting your identity and how you store that information.

3. Enter or Select the first prompt (Card name).

Enter "Card name" for the Prompt, press the Tab key, click or touch to move to the field to the right and enter the actual name on the front of the card, in this case "Michael Smith".
As you enter the Prompt "Card name" all other prompts are checked character by character and if a match is found the prompt is selected for you and its Value shown.

4. Select the second prompt (Card type).

Enter "Card type" for the Prompt and in the field next to it, the value, for example, VISA, Mastercard, AMEX.

5. Select the third prompt (Expiry period).

Enter "Expiry period" for the Prompt and then the value from the Card in any format you prefer.

6. Select the fourth prompt (CVV).

Enter "CVV" for the Prompt and in the field next to it, the value from the back of the card.

7. If there is a Pin number for the card select the fifth prompt (Pin).

Enter "Pin" for the Prompt and in the field next to it, the value for the card if it has ATM access.
As a suggestion it may be useful to add another Prompt for "Emergency telephone" and provide the number to call if you lose the card or if it is stolen.

8. Save the Account.

Click or touch the Save button and the account will be added to WebAccount. The Save button is set as the "default" button. So pressing the Enter key at any time will also select the Save button.
Immediately after saving, the account can be selected using the name provided.
Make sure you regularly backup your data especially after making changes.
